36 is old

Have you seen any good contemporary art recently? In Berlin?
I haven´t.
And I am wondering if this has anything to do with this inane attitude of the "art world" that if you are a contemporary artist and you are over 35 you are old. I mean, too old. The art world is ageist.
How many art competitions or art prizes are there, that are seriously considering any artist above the age of 35? Most of them explicitly state that, in order to participate, you have to be no older then 35 ... Why is that? Since when is art made by 20 somethings better then art made by people who have actually had the time to think about what they were doing? Why is art made by people who have barely left art school more significant than art made by someone who has at least some life experience (and i don´t mean how many parties they have attended, which drugs they have experimented with and / or how many people they have slept with ... ) Why would I trust an artist in his twenties more to continue making art than anyone who has proven to do so? Why does an artist has to discovered before (s)he hits thirty? What is wrong with growing with age? It is not like people die of old age when they hit 40! With 36 most of us still have more then half of their life before us, plenty of time to make more art .... But, as things stand now, after 36 you can make the most exciting, beautiful, intriguing art ... you will not be considered for any serious art prize anymore. Too late. 35 is the new retirement age of  for the not yet famous artist. Unless you don´t give a f*ck about art prizes and the sort, then you are free to go on making what you actually want to make .... hopefully some damn good art!t
